Chennai fund
The Chennai Fund is a fund facilitated by the Charter members of TiE Chennai to help and encourage Chennai based entrepreneurs in early stage funding and mentoring. Currently the fund has 11 investors who have committed to invest a minimum amount of 25 lakhs each. 5 Lakhs from this would be a corpus held in the Chennai Fund account that will be used for entrepreneurial developmental activities. Investors will be free to invest in any venture that is processed and screened by the Chennai Fund committee.
TIE:
TiE, The Indus Entrepreneurs, also known as Talent Ideas and Enterprise is a global, non-profit network dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurship. Founded in 1992, in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals with roots in the Indus region, the organization today has over 10,000 members across 44 chapters in 9 countries. Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community, TiE's focus is on generating and nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurs. In order to achieve this organization has built programs to energize and inspire its constituencies and the flagship event being TiEcon, the largest conference for entrepreneurs worldwide. TiE's Chapters has a wide range of programs that include TiEcon, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), TiE Institute, Deal Flow Meetings, TiE Young Entrepreneurs, TiE Women's forum and CEO forum. The one constant guiding the evolution of TiE's has been its philosophical framework. It has kept the vision and decisions of TiE's leadership true to its basic beliefs that wealth creation and giving back to society are invaluable human endeavors.
Why Chennai?
Chennai, one of the fastest developing metros in India, is a land of opportunities, anchored by a diverse range of economic activities across sectors namely, manufacturing, IT and ITes. The Greater Chennai city also exhibits the highest attractiveness for offshoring among Indian cities, as observed by AT Kearny report. The City is ahead of the other three metros, when it comes to quality of life as ranked by ECA International. Also, the metro is the second largest exporter of IT and ITes services behind of Bangalore.
Fuelled by the current economic reforms and the growth pace of India, compelled by ever-demanding and ever-changing Consumerism, backed by its culture and value system, the Greater Chennai promises to be a land of budding entrepreneurship.
